If you enjoy Marilyn Manson’s art check out this brand new interview, it is very interesting.
PART I
*Brian says he IS Marilyn Manson and expresses his appreciation for Twiggy.
*He looks back at his thoughts of suicide after his marriage ended with Dita Von Teese as COWARDICE.
*Says he LIVES in a PRISON that he put himself in.
*”If you say you want to die with me, I will kill you first because I don’t trust you, but this is not metaphorical it is honest.”
PART II
*Record company thought “Crazy as a Swastika” was a too crazy title, so he changed the title to “Crazy as a $” because money is fascist – his choices are artistic and the record company’s actions were financial.
*Inspired by Bowie, Prince, Madonna, Alice Cooper… he encourages new bands to RE-CREATE not COPY.
*He is pissed that his CD is being sold in a store that sells firearms but yet his music has to be censored – so he says FUCK as many times as possible! *He wrote a lot of the songs for SHOCK FACTOR.
*”People INVENT problems by CENSORING.”
*He got blamed for another school shooting – he says he does not advocate it, but he gets blamed for it – believes he deserves a Grammy or medallion for this!
PART III
*Wrote “We’re From America” on the day he voted for President.
*Does NOT advocate marriage – he wanted to vote for gay marriage so they can suffer like he did.
*Voted DRUNK.
*He will open the tour with “Four Rusted Horses” because he thinks it represents the record.
*Explains the meaning and importance of the number “15″ to him.
PART IV
*He is married to what he does and that includes Twiggy!
*”Role models are mannequins, I’m a role villian.”
*They are victims and does not want to be victimized – he makes music for victims.
THE MORAL OF THE STORY – “Stay with your best friend, only drink and do drugs when you’re in a good mood, find a manager that only keeps you in a cage for a certain number of times, grow your eyebrows back, don’t put your penis in anthills, dirt, or girls that remind you of the two, try and make music your salvation.”
PJ Harvey and John Parish ROCKED the House of Blues in Boston last night. The show is AMAZING and a MUST-SEE. They perform *only* songs from their album together. PJ looked stunning in a black silk dress. The performance was passionate and unique! Here are my photos from the night–
Did anyone else notice that the 6 leaked songs on MM’s new album, “The High End of the Low” are pretty much the ONLY good tracks on the record?!
Let’s take a closer look -
( * denotes leaked track)
01. Devour – WHATEVER.
02. Pretty As A Swastika – TOTAL SUCK.
03. Leave A Scar – GOOD. *
04. Four Rusted Horses – GOOD. *
05. Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon – GOOD. *
06. Blank And White – REPETITIVE.
07. Running To The Edge Of The World – TOTAL SUCK.
08. I Want To Kill You Like They Do In The Movies – TERRIBLE. I hear this is the best, most epic track on the record, but I cannot get into it!
09. WOW – GREAT. *
10. Wight Spider – GREAT.
11. Unkillable Monster – OK.
12. We’re From America – GREAT. *
13. I Have To Look Up Just To See Hell – GREAT.
14. Into The Fire – GREAT BALLAD. *
15. 15 – GREAT CLOSER.
Here’s my theory – Manson leaked the GOOD tracks to get us all excited to hear the new record and to make us think that this record would mark the revival of his career. Basically, so we would go out and PURCHASE the record. What a trickster! The album does way out in favor of good songs over bad one, is it really different than “Eat Me, Drink Me?” Not really.
So what are your opinions on the new album? Did Jeordie White (Twiggy) revive his dying career? Are these songs comparable to their smash hit “Antichrist Superstar?”
… and what’s up with touring with SLAYER? I don’t want to see SLAYER!
What does Manson do nowadays? Has he really lost the spark?
After hearing the last Manson album I was a little weary as to what he’d be putting out next. Marilyn Manson is an artist that I ADORE – the controversy, the voice, the image, the fashion, the PERFORMANCE. After hearing a few of the tracks off of his upcoming release, “The High End of the Low” I have zero doubts that he is OVER as a musician.
The tracks are addictive and amazing, the artist that I’ve been dying to hear! On this release we get dramatic confessionals “Four Rusted Horses”, anti-establishment anthems “Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon” and a single that is to be remembered “We’re From America.”
Could it be the additional genius of Twiggy, co-author of “Antichrist Superstar” Manson’s most memorable album to date? Whatever it is, it’s WORKING!!
I am definitely looking forward to see and hear what Brian Warner has been creating in his Hollywood lair. He is the epitome of ARTIST. www.marilynmanson.com
I’m really liking the look he has created for the album – the glowstick goth atmosphere and strange expression. Manson NEVER looks the same! What will the music video(s) look like? A perfect hire for Manson would be Justin Coloma, who is creating and keeping the gothic mythology alive through film as well.

Two-time Academy Award-nominee turned hip-hop musician, Joaquin Phoenix releases his first rap single entitled “The Rise of The Phoenix”!
JOAQUIN IS FUNNY AS HELL!!
Here’s his new video--
Lyrics:
(muttering stuff)
VERSE 1:
I played Johnny Cash in “Walk the Line”,
You think I’ve gone crazy, but I feel fine.
I’m switching to music, this ain’t no trick,
When I scratch my beard, it’s a nervous tick.
VERSE 2:
I’m done with acting if you can believe it.
Don’t ask about “Two Lovers” ‘cuz I haven’t seen it.
I’m new to hip-hop, but I’ll beat your asses,
You’ll never see me without these glasses.
CHORUS:
They call me The Phoenix (that’s my hip-hop name),
‘Cuz I rhyme through the ashes (and beat through the flames).
I’m quitting movies ‘cuz hair and makeup suck,
I’m Joaquin Phoenix and I’m crazy as…
(Ahhhh, ah ahhhhhh, Ahhhh, ah ahhhhhh)
VERSE 3:
Ya’ll laugh at me, but this is my life,
Don’t be like Schaeffer or I’ll pull out my knife.
I chew gum cuz I’m all nonchalant,
I’m the Emperor, I DO WHAT I WANT!
VERSE 4:
Shut up Letterman, enough with the beard,
Before I felt fine, but now I feel weird,
If you ask me a question I’ve got nothing to say,
________________________.
BRIDGE:
(8 bars of muttering stuff)
CHORUS:
They call me The Phoenix (that’s his hip-hop name,)
‘Cuz I rhyme through the ashes (and burst through the flame).
I’m quitting acting (‘cuz movies suck),
I’m Joaquin Phoenix and Im crazy as…
(Ahhhh, ah ahhhhhh, Ahhhh, ah ahhhhhh)
…and the David Letterman appearance he references in the song--
A lot of news regarding Jane’s Addiction and Nine Inch Nails!
I updated the photos with the latest clue as well – A photo of Perry Farrell with the band on stage practicing.
Apparently Jane’s Addiction IS on the tour with NIN and will be opening tonight.
With them or without them- is another question.
Hey Trent, 2009 makes 20 years, so will there be another Halo? ;)
Trent Reznor also wrote an epic note on his website today saying how Nine Inch Nails is OVER FOR A WHILE… and here it is…
2.16.09: A note from Trent and a wave goodbye
Towards the beginning of my career in Nine Inch Nails, our biggest break came in the form of an invitation to perform a series of shows with Jane’s Addiction. These performances essentially created and defined the term “alternative” rock in the US, created an ongoing festival franchise that is still thriving (Lollapalooza), set the stage for Nirvana to shift popular taste a few months later, and were really fucking FUN to play and attend – truly the best times I’ve had. The shows were epic. So epic, they propelled NIN to the “next level” (whatever that means), but caused Jane’s to implode. The band broke up at the end of that tour.
Fast forward to the present. Corporate rock STILL sucks. A friend tells me they saw the original Jane’s lineup play a tiny show in LA that was unbelievable. I break out my Jane’s records and am amazed by how vital they sound. These guys were the real deal and in this current climate mostly dominated by poseurs and pussies it was refreshing to hear something that sounded dangerous, volatile, beautiful and SINCERE.
Emails were sent, phone calls were made, dinner was arranged, ideas were discussed and the next thing I know we’re in the studio experimenting. We laugh, we get to know each other, we cry, we yell, we almost quit, we record LOTS of guitar solos, we discuss, we actually begin to all communicate, we yell some more, we become FRIENDS, we laugh again and we do some great things. I get to see first hand why they broke up all those years ago but I also get the chance to see four distinct personalities that become an INCREDIBLE band when they’re in the same room.
In NIN world, 2009 marks the 20th anniversary of our first releases. I’ve been thinking for some time now it’s time to make NIN disappear for a while. Last year’s “Lights in the Sky” tour was something I’m quite proud of and seems like the culmination of what I could pull off in terms of an elaborate production. It was also quite difficult to pull off technically and physically night after night and left us all a bit dazed. After some thought, we decided to book a last run of shows across the globe this year. The approach to these shows is quite different from last year – much more raw, spontaneous and less scripted. Fun for us and a different way for you to see us and wave goodbye. I reached out to Jane’s to see if they’d want to join us across the US and we all felt it could be a great thing. Will it work? Will it resonate in the marketplace? Who knows. Are there big record label marketing dollars to convince you to attend? Nope.
Does it feel right to us and does it seem like it will be fun for us and you? Yes it does.
Look for tour dates soon and I hope to see you out there.
We are announcing Voltaic, the celebration of Volta and the Volta live show. The release will consist of various live recordings from Paris and Reykjavik. The live set was also recorded in a studio in London, which will undoubtedly give us some rare glimpse into the development of the live set.
The release will be available as Standard, Deluxe and DeluxeVinyl.
Björk did document the tour extensively and now we will be able to enjoy this work in a new light and new sound.
DISC ONE (AUDIO) Songs From The Volta Tour Performed Live At Olympic Studios DISC TWO (DVD) The Volta Tour Live In Paris, Live in Reykjavik DISC THREE (DVD) The Volta Videos and the video competition DISC FOUR (CD) The Volta Mixes.
We will have more on this release very soon as we are building our special.
Pre Order is here.

Trent Reznor, pioneer rock genius behind Nine Inch Nails is back in the studio/out of the studio with NIN *and*Jane’s Addiction! After a short break from the first leg of his world tour, he’s been posting random pictures for a week now on his website, nin.com. Trent’s having fun subversively again, dropping hints as the fans speculate, and boy do they speculate! Perhaps he’s producing the new Jane’s Addiction album? Perhaps Jane’s will double headline on NIN’s upcoming tour, or maybe even some of Jane’s band members will be joining NIN on a new record!… Year Zero, pt 2!?
Whatever he’s up to – does he ever rest?
Here’s my cap of the NIN Winter 2009 Photoblog–
