Ex Cranberries lead singer Dolores O’Riordan goes Solo

Dolores O'RiordanDolores O’Riordan will be releasing her first ever solo album on May 15th in the US.  It is entitled Are You Listening.  Reminiscent of another Irish songstress, Sinead O’Connor (her earlier recordings), the album offers a refreshingly mature balance of feminine power and sensitivity.  The stunning 12-track album will be her first release in four years, “we didn’t rush it.  In total, the writing and recording was a four-year period” says O’Riordan.  “Ultimately, the CD was a process inspired by personal experiences, both light and dark.”  Light and dark indeed.  Standout tracks include the dramatic Black Widow, written when her Mother-In-Law passed away from cancer and In The Garden, another magical tune.

Are You Listening could quite possibly be my top album from a solo female for 2007, it’s that good.  You can preview Black Widow and In The Garden on the yessaid Radio[must be a member to listen to tracks]

You can order a copy here.
